RACQ Insurance

RACQ Insurance is the insurance unit of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ), a motoring club and mutual group based in Queensland, Australia that offers roadside assistance, insurance, and other similar services to its members. The mutual arm of RACQ Insurance traces its beginnings to the formation of the Automobile Club of Queensland in 1905. The club was meant to be an advocacy group, and one of its first campaigns called on farmers to end the practice of placing logs and other obstacles on roads due to fears that cars would frighten their cows and cause them to stop producing milk. The Automobile Club of Queensland received its Royal Charter 16 years later in 1921. RACQ Insurance was eventually launched as a 50:50 joint venture with Suncorp, the financial services provider.

RACQ Insurance offers three kinds of car insurance. Its comprehensive third-party car insurance protects the owner or driver of a vehicle responsible for an accident from claims filed by the injured. RACQ Insurance also offers an At Fault Driver Injury Insurance policy that covers injuries sustained by the motorist responsible for the accident. This policy is available at no extra cost. RACQ Insurance offers a discount on the policyholder's yearly RACQ membership fee.

RACQ insurance for homes and their contents

The home insurance package by RACQ Insurance protects both the policyholder's property and its contents. Insurance for the building covers rebuilding or repair costs in case of storm or fire. Meanwhile, contents insurance provides coverage for the contents of the policyholder's home in case they are stolen, vandalised, or damaged by an insured event such as a fire. The benefits of this RACQ Insurance package include legal liability coverage, coverage for accidental breakage of glass and any specified materials, and emergency home assistance. RACQ members can get substantial discounts, while other plan owners can also avail of the no-claim, combined, and multiple policy discounts.

RACQ insurance for pets

RACQ Insurance Pet Cover reimburses a fixed amount of veterinary fees charged for a single illness or injury to the policyholder's cat or dog. RACQ Insurance offers one low excess for each claim brought under the RACQ Insurance Pet Cover.
